AUDIO PHYISC has been developing loudspeakers since 1985. The technologies, methods and tools used might have changed drastically over the course of the decades but our motivation has always remained the same. A speaker from AUDIO PHYSIC shall always let the music speak for itself, unchanged, unharmed and as purely as possible. Because we believe that music is not made for the ears alone –music is meant to touch our hearts and our souls.


But as music works its magic through sound waves, a profound knowledge of the physics involved is essential when designing a loudspeaker. Since its founding, AUDIO PHYSIC has worked tirelessly towards a better understanding of those subtleties of physics that, ultimately, can make the difference between mere sound and great music. In doing so, we have never shied away from trying new approaches, applying new solutions or doing things differently.

The essence of more than three decades of experience in designing and building loudspeakers – plus some brand-new ideas – has now gone into the development of our biggest achievement so far – the new STRUCTURE.

Innovative Materials

We have been using open cell Ceramic Foam in our speakers for years now. This very expensive high-tech material is unique in that it consists mostly of air, surrounded by a network of a ceramic that is nearly as hard as diamond. This means that Ceramic Foam is very light, but extremely stiff and strong. By using Ceramic Foam for the internal reinforcing structures and as a dampening material in our speakers, we could create very stiff cabinets without wasting internal volume, compared to using conventional materials. In other words: Acoustically, thanks to Ceramic Foam, our speakers are bigger on the inside than they appear from the outside.

With our new STRUCTURE, we have taken this design principle to the extreme and are using Ceramic Foam for most of the cabinet’s construction. As a result, the STRUCTURE has an astounding 15 litres more internal volume than the similarly sized CODEX.

The STRUCTURE also features a completely new material never before used in any of our speakers. The internal enclosures for the tweeter and the midrange driver, baffle, top plate and the rear panel of the cabinet are made from a new Honeycomb Sandwich Board, a very light but rigid material that’s a lot better in avoiding unwanted vibrations and resonances than the commonly used MDF.

Innovative Technologies

Our goal with the new STRUCTURE was nothing less than to create a speaker like none other before it. While experience, tradition and intuition all have played an important role, it would not have been possible to reach that goal without the use of the most modern technologies available. During a research project that spanned several years we have developed a new design for our unique Dual Basket Driver Technology that could significantly outperform the existing technology in terms of rigidity, resonance behaviour and air flow characteristics. The resulting design, however, was so complex that it could not be made with conventional manufacturing methods. Instead, it required using the most state-of-the-art 3D-printing technology on the planet. So that’s what we did, creating our new 5” Dual Basket Midrange driver that is making its debut in the STRUCTURE.

Every other technical aspect of the speaker has also been scrutinised and re-engineered to achieve our design goals. This is why the STRUCTURE features new, optimised versions of almost all our unique speaker technologies, like the improved vibration-dampening suspension of the newly designed cross-over network, the third generation of our Vibration Control Terminal that has also been equipped with WBT’s latest nextgen® Silver connectors, improved internal wiring, or our new foot design, using VCF V Magnetic Feet. All these new technologies see their first application in the STRUCTURE, but over time will find their way into other AUDIO PHYSIC products, too.

Innovative Looks

We are confident that the unsurpassed sound quality of the STRUCTURE will easily speak for itself. But we didn’t stop there and have also added a touch of understated luxury to its exterior by laminating a layer of genuine carbon fibre to the glass panels of the cabinet’s sandwich construction. The unmistakable woven structure of this material, together with the gloss and depth added by the glass create a truly unique finish that only reveals its true beauty on closer inspection.

4-Way Design
The 4-way speaker features four different drivers that share reproduction of the entire frequency range. One or more subwoofers, one or more woofers, a midrange and a tweeter. Usually the crossover frequency between subwoofer and woofer is set at around 100Hz, while low and mid frequencies are separated between 250Hz and 400Hz, and the crossover frequency between midrange and tweeter is normally set at 2,000Hz to 3,000Hz.


HHCM III – Hyper Holographic Cone Midrange
Many AUDIO PHYSIC Core Technologies have been combined to build the HHCM-III midrange driver. Together, they serve a single purpose: To guarantee an authentic rendition of the music, unaffected by any unwanted vibrations.

Ceramic Foam Bracing
Ceramic Foam is a high-tech material used for internal bracing in many of our speakers. It is much stiffer than MDF although it consists of 85% air. This means, the room taken up by the internal bracing is also part of the effective volume of air the drivers need to work. By using Ceramic Foam, we can build loudspeakers that match and out-perform much bulkier speakers.

Sandwich Cabinet Construction
Our unique Sandwich Cabinets are an innovative way to stop the speaker cabinet from developing an acoustical life of its own. It is especially effective with our stylish glass-finished speakers as the relatively high weight of the glass panels helps dampening the cabinet even better.

Dual Basket Design
AUDIO PHYSIC’S unique DUAL BASKET DESIGN is a true break-through innovation and the most important part of the HHCM-III technology. Instead of the tradition single basket, our HHCM-III features two separate baskets to prevent and subdue unwanted vibrations already at the source.

Vibration Control Feet Magnetic standard

CCAC – Ceramic Coated Aluminium Cone
By coating a conical aluminium diaphragm with a special ceramic material, AUDIO PHYSIC creates a diaphragm that is at the same time very light as well as extremely rigid. When used together with ACTIVE CONE DAMPING technology the cone diaphragm is virtually immune against any partial oscillations that would otherwise impair the sound.

Active Cone Damping
ACTIVE CONE DAMPING is a unique design to reduce resonances in metal diaphragms, developed exclusively by AUDIO PHYSIC.

Bi-Wiring/Bi-Amping optional
Most our speakers have a regular single-wiring terminal to avoid unnecessary metal or wire bridges that would harm sound quality when used in single-wiring configuration (Which is what most Hi-Fi fans actually use). However, an optional Bi-Wiring/Bi-Amping Terminal can usually be ordered with any new speaker. Retrofitting only on special request.


VCT – Vibration Control Terminal
Unwanted vibrations have negative effects on sound quality wherever they occur in the signal path. Because AUDIO PHYSIC has made it their mission to fight unwanted vibration and resonance whenever and wherever they occur, the fully decoupled VIBRATION CONTROL TERMINAL (VCT) has been devised.
