Return to Center:
Audio Physic launches major update
of the Center Celsius
Despite its rather unassuming name, the Center II has become a long-time favourite among home theatre enthusiasts over the years. However the name itself conveys the right idea since true home entertainment connoisseurs do not wish the center speaker to take center stage neither in terms of name nor in terms of sound reproduction. When the rightful centerpiece is too dominant for its own good, it becomes clear that the adjustment is not right and that your center speaker is not properly matched to the main loudspeakers. Nothing is more important for a stable, accurate sound reproduction than a perfectly matched front speaker system which keeps up with the action on the screen, holding you unquestioningly and acceptingly in its spell. When Audio Physic rolled up its sleeves and got to redesign the Spark and Tempo loudspeakers, the top-sellers of its product line, it was only a question of time when the new Celsius would follow.
Tempo ingredients
Not only was the Celsius provided with a 25 mm (1'') soft dome designed for excellent dispersion, it was also equipped with not one but two 15 cm (6'') aluminium woofer/midrange drivers that were borrowed from the Tempo. All have been matched to ensure a seamless sonic blend in the future. It is no secret that a cabinet also strongly influences the sound reproduction and therefore Audio Physic did not just update the drivers but redesigned the cabinet as well. With its elegantly curved shape and effective rigid structure inside, the cabinet takes full advantage of the benefits of computer-supported design. The comprehensive update of the first choice in home entertainment sparked acoustic progress in effectively eliminating resonances and offering optimum dispersion as well as provided the Celsius with dashing good looks. All things considered it does not seem exaggerated to speak of the center speaker as a completely new design. Some improvements can even be observed in the rear panel: The solid terminal is made of aluminium, fitted with massive binding posts (WBT) and decoupled from the enclosure with a neoprene gasket. Therefore, vibrations are no longer transmitted via the cabinet to the connecting terminal and to the cables. Due to its magnetic shielding, you can place the Center Celsius right on top of your TV set or just below without experiencing image distortion.
It’s all for one and one for all
The Celsius sounds as good as it looks and is designed to be the perfectly matched center channel when used with the new Step bookshelf loudspeaker as well as the Spark, Tempo and Scorpio floor-standing loudspeakers, not to forget the Luna II subwoofer. It helps to precisely anchor dialogue and sound effects to your screen and achieves a seamless enveloping sound when combined with the other Audio Physic loudspeakers. The Celsius also delivers excellent speech intelligibility just the way you want your vintage Audio Physic center channel speaker to perform when perfectly integrated into your home theatre system.
